Shirley Allen, LPC

As a Licensed Processional Counselor, Shirley draws heavily from a therapeutic style that is client centered . Shirley helps people move forward by “meeting clients where they are emotionally.” Her goal is to create a safe environment for clients to explore their issues and concerns while she assists her clients in finding their own way.
Shirley has an educational background that includes work in early childhood development, substance use, and cognitive psychology. She has experience working with children as young as 3 and adults upwards of 78. She works with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, families, and groups. Her clients include those who are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and various life transitions.
Shirley has additional training in play therapy, sand tray, and is Gottman certified in couples therapy. She has further elected to complete specific coursework in order to support the LBGT community. Shirley loves to continue learning about different aspects of the therapy field and is currently working on a PhD in Educational Psychology. She has also been an Associate Professor, teaching various courses on Psychology, since 2013.
