Mia Sustek, LPC
Staff Therapist

Mia Sustek is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience working with children, teens, and adults in school and behavioral health settings. Mia has experience working with individuals of all gender identities and cultural backgrounds. As a neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clinician, she is especially passionate about providing neurodivergent affirming care and LGBTQ+ affirming care without the “double empathy problem.”
Many of us walk through life without feeling truly listened to or deeply understood. So often, we seek belonging and to be perceived, but receive judgement or unwanted advice in place of understanding. Mia views therapy as a human to human experience. She hopes that the therapeutic room can be an agent of change where individuals can feel seen and valued. Mia conceptualizes therapy as a process of sifting through one’s past, connecting the dots of how it affects our present, and using this insight to shape one’s future. Sometimes, the issues we face in the present also need addressing independently of this deeper work. She is inspired by the work of Jung and Rogers, integrating holistic treatment with the belief that every person has the innate capacity for growth. Her therapeutic style is collaborative, humorous, supportive, and humanizing.
In her free time outside of the practice, Mia enjoys playing video games, watching anime and comedy shows, spending time in nature, and hanging out with her family and pets.
